about

(IN) Digestas was inspired by reading, learning, and thinking about the current food crisis and how, in a way, our food has taken on toxic effects. We live in a world where perhaps any food could kill you, depending on where you find your information. Does the toxin come from the soil? How the food is grown? What’s been added to the food? Or from the very food itself!? Even though we depend on food for life, food affects us negatively everywhere we turn. How is that even possible? We should have reached a point where the struggle for food has been solved. Food should be healthy and plentiful, but its problems are growing exponentially.

With a Master’s Degree in Design and Interactive Creation (Universidad de Caldas, Colombia) and a Graduate Degree in Media Arts (Universidad de Córdoba, Argentina), Colombian researcher and aural creator Luis Felipe Henao Bustamante, the man behind Filipo Laresca, has composed a musical interpretation of this struggle with sound as a metaphor for our indigestion. Using the sounds of amplified acoustic objects and turntablism, he has ground down this audio deconstruction of noise to contextualization/decontextualization of this unusual but very visceral idea.

Flilipo Leresca is just one of his projects. He has also worked under the moniker Ayatollah, and collaborated with musicians from the experimental scene such as Astro (Japan), Knurl (Canada), Macronympha (U.S.A.), Thirdorgan (Japan), Armenia (Ecuador), among many others. He has directed the Haunted Exp Labs Records label, where he has dedicated a vital space to disseminating the musical work of experimental musicians worldwide. In 2020, he designed and composed the musical score for the interactive work and video installation: “Nada que cesa” (Still no stop) by the Colombian-British artist Fernando Arias, a work exhibited at the MAMBO (Museum of Modern Art of Bogota) Colombia.
